Red Sox manager John Farrell announced today he has stage 1 lymphoma.

He will begin chemotherapy Tuesday at Mass General Hospital. The plan calls for nine weeks of chemotherapy.

“There’s no alternative,” Farrell said.

Bench coach Torey Lovullo will manage the Sox for the rest of the season.

“There’s going to be a good outcome to this,” Farrell said.
